The truck must accommodate the freight at its widest, longest and tallest outside points—not the nominal pallet size. Wrap, leaning cartons and overhang can change both cube and usable floor space, so measure the loaded unit exactly as it will travel.

- Record weight per skid
- State whether safe stacking is allowed
Putting it into practice
If cartons overhang a 48 × 40 inch pallet by two inches on each side, the loaded width is 44 inches, not 40. Measure from the floor to the highest point, including the pallet. Two non-stackable pieces at 48 × 40 × 48 inches and 500 lb each have planning totals of 1,000 lb, 106.7 cubic feet and 26.7 square feet of floor area. These totals do not approve vehicle fit.
